I bought a Megan racing 4-2-1 headers for my 96 honda civic lx for a pretty good price, well i installed it today myself everything was going well until i got to the part where i connect the end of the header to the stock pipe of the exhaust, there's this round cricle metal thing (a gasket i guess) that goes in between the header to the exhaust pipe that has 2 bolts with springs but it won't fit.the megan round thing is to big for the stock pipe and the stock round thing is to small for the header i tried thinking of everything i could to make it work but no luck! i turn the car on and it sounds like s**t i can see the leak coming out from that circle metal round thing because its not sealed tight! please help me with this you guys im out of ideas.

I will post pictures as soon as i recieve 3 more parts for my civic which are my black jdm style headlights ,
rear black led tail lights, , and a JDM R style Front Grill (Black).

Thanks!

Only thing I can think of is that you've purchased an EX header for your LX, the piping is probably different due to catalytic converter placement. On the DX and LX the cat is attached to the exhuast manifold and on the EX its right after the downpipe going into the catalytic converter.

If its not that, you might try replacing the gasket to see if they just sent you the wrong one.

yeah i read about that alot before i bought this one, alot of modifying and stuff, what i got is a 2 piece header and it fits on just fine its just that circular donut object thing is whats giving me the problem what i was thinking to do is since its kind of a soft type of metal but really thick probably reshape it to fit on both the y shape pipe to the tail pipe. because it leaves a gap in between the y shape down pipe and tailpipe.
here'a a picture of the problem i have please examine.

yeah tried that today and it was to big for the oem exhaust pipe, it still leaked but not as much and i can srtill hear the buzzing sound when i rev my engine, but GOOD NEWS! a friend of mine who runs a autobodyshop got a hold of his good friend who owns an auto mechanic shop and said that what he's gonna do for me is that to keep the oem exhaust pipe he'll have to cut that piece where that oem gasket or donut fits in and weld it onto the after market header. for $60.00 also installed weapon R CEL eliminator today engine light\ turned on once then thats it, light stayed off

got my black honda grille today and glad to know that atleast i had something that fits on right.

I have the exact same header on my ex and didnt have this problem. The only problem i had was the spring loaded bolts wher the cat bolts to downpipe the spring wouldnt compress all the way to seal it up tight. I just switched out the bolts for regualr ones and it works just fine.

i would advise against welding the header to the midpipe , cuz it will stress crack over time , have the guy just either weld up a new flange on the midpipe to match the header and use the SPRING BOLTS to bolt it up so it has some flex to it , or just make a new midpipe end to end , just dont weld the 2 together thats not the nest thng to do

x2 on not welding them together, if you're set on getting it welded just weld two new flanges and use the spring bolts for a 'like OEM' fit.

first of all do not call them headers. its just one. second of all, I would avoid welding and doing a micky mouse. but if it works then it works. next time try to use the correct gasket for the header. you could always take it in a place that sales performance parts and they will give you the right one.

Just since you did it, now I will lol. It is SELLS not SALES lol

Anyways post some pics of what you got, the correct gasket is vital.... Welding is FINE but only in places that you wont have to cut if you need to remove it.... So header to exhaust pipe is not good...

Buy a new donut gasket! They're $3!

You need to tighten the bolts equally at the same time.

Meaning- 3 turns on left side
3 turns on right side

You can NOT tighten one all the way, then the other. It will cause leaks- because it's not seeting properly
