I don't want to lose much ground clearance but I want to improve handling, and keep a resonably smooth ride so I'm considering:

- H&R OE Sport springs
- Neuspeed SoftSport springs
- something else?

Comments? Suggestions?

I spoke to HR in the OE springs. They said the springs are 3/4" drop with 10-15% more stiffness. You probably wouldnt even have to upgrade your struts, but why not if its all apart. The two mods together would produce something noticable but nothing drastic. I will probably go HR OE's with some Koni Reds myself once I get my new wheels & tires.

i beleive H&R is still the parent company of Neuspeed....but both are quality products and i havent heard bad things about either of them.

if you look up the spring rates of the H&R and neuspeed, you will prolly find them to be similar.

I had the Neuspeeds with a 3/4" drop on my Accord and it handled real nice... even tho it was such a minimal drop it greatly improved the ride AND handling...

Did you change struts or run stockers?

Neuspeed update vs Hr
according to the rep at neuspeed claims the sofsprings are the same rates as the sports but only a 3/4" drop and progressive with a rate of 300fr/190rr. The rates seem high but i dont know much about progressive type springs. Supposedly this is 25-30% stiffer than stock.

HR OE sports claims 10-15% stiffer rates but wouldnt give a specific number.

My boy used to have the h&r sport springs w/ stock struts, but they didn't give much of a drop, didnt bug him much cuz the ride was really smooth jus like stock on stock shocks theyre good springs

other than dropping the car slightly...were the springs at all stiffer than the stockers?

I just put H&R sports with KYB GR-2 struts on my car and I got a very good drop out of it. The drop has to be 1.75-2 inches (i measured before the drop, but not the after yet cuz it is too cold outside). The gap is gone and I love how the front is offset. Comfort wise, it got worse, but it made up in handleing. I can go 50 around a corner that I use to take at 35 without worrying. If I am not mistaken, H&R makes two kind of sport springs. One that drop the car .75 and one that drops the car 1.5-1.75. Plus they make the race springs.

i had a set of eibach pro-kits on a crx and wasnt real pleased with the ride.. now i have a set of neuspeed race on my '96 civic hatch.. its lower than i wanted but still rides better than the crx with the eibach and it sits an inch lower than the crx did!.. may be just the better suspension on the newer car but idk.. a friend of mine also has neuspeed sport on his '96 prelude and they are really nice.. i would go with neuspeed sport if you have a 1.5" fender gap cause you might be disappointed with the sofsport minimal drop..
