So im looking for a CRX and my plan is to H swap it fairly soon after. Im just looking for ideas/tips/suggestions on what would be better or easier etc.. H22 or H23? also I need some info on whether it would be better to go obd 1 or go obd 2? Lastly, has anyone else done a DA front end conversion on a CRX?

Are you talking the H23 from the Prelude, or the DOHC VTEC H23A from the Accord SiR Wagon?

really in my eyes the choice is H22A4 or the H23A with VTec......im guessing the H22A4 would be the cheaper of the 2. with all motor swaps, it comes down to what you personally want. H series make nice power/torque but aren't as commonly used because most people don't build the bottom end which is known to be less reliable

Thanks Intertwined, thats helpful. Ive always loved H series in general, but have only just recently began actually getting more into cars and the scene and all. I do want VTEC and i want the most reliability possible without cashing out thousands and thousands of dollars right off the bat. I know nothing is cheap and im prepared for that, but spending the least right now for it is what im aiming for. Who knows, maybe once i get into it, my mind will change. lol Anyways, do you know what about the bottom end makes it not as reliable? Is that the crank? rods? What would you recommend to make it better? Also, I am in Cali with stupid smog laws, so Im gunna need it to be able to pass BAR. However I have heard of possibly being able to get it smog exempt. A buddy of mine is on the MK3 Supra forums and has seen people with smog exempt MK3's from the late 80's. Anyone know anything about that?
