So as far as my ek, I have some racing seats up front, SRD copies - and Im looking to get some racing harnesses to go along with them. But, I know a "harness bar" is needed to go along with them, but a couple questions:

1) whats the proper type of bar im looking for? for my application (like whats it called when searching for it - there are SO many bars)?

2) whats a good brand?

thanks :thumbs up

everyone is going to tell you you will need a roll bar that has a harness bar on it. Or a full cage..

depending on what your doing a harness bar is more practical than a roll bar + harness bar.

If you dont plan on flipping your car at an auto-x event and wanna uninstall a harness bar at the end of the day.. Get a sparco harness bar.. Very easy to take out............... $300

if you dont want to take it in and out when not in use then get a roll bar with a harness bar
its around $300-500

Roll bar is safer cause it will keep the roof from caving in and cracking your neck but its not necessarily as practical as a simple harness bar alone.

I think im gonna get a harness bar for show and for auto-x..

Harnesses without a roll bar are potentially dangerous because the harnesses make you sit up straight and limit your movement. If the car were to roll and you had a four-point harness on and no roll bar then the roof will crash in and the seatbelts will continue to hold you upright.

Stock three-point harnesses let you slide and kind of lean if your car were to roll. Therefore the roll bar is not as neccessary.

I would personally save up a little more and get that roll bar instead for safety reasons. :thumbs up For example, I wasn't planning to crash my last car either. It's kind of difficult to know something like that would happen. Come to find out later, I'm lucky I didn't flip it given the conditions and situation.

$200 to cover your ass for "just in case" seems reasonable to me.

Yes, something like that probably would work. Would I buy it? Honestly, no I wouldn't.

I would ask arounf and find out what other people here have used successfully.
