ok so i bought a 99 civic dx and when i bought it the cd player worked. About two days later it didnt. I replaced the head unit and still same results i have tried every thing under the sun. i have searched for days and have had no results. also re wired every thing checked all wires with a multimeter. Is ther any other wires u must use other than the cheater harness???

for the deck to turn on, must have constant power to battery and also an ignition trigger wire. and a good ground.

the deck needs TWO power wires to turn on. one is a hard wire direct to the + battery. the other is an ignition + wire that only gets hot when the car is on. this keeps the deck from losing memory when the car is off. and keeps the deck turned off when car is off. when car is on, the second + source turns the deck on. also the ground wire of the deck must be attached to a solid metal ground somewhere on the frame or battery negative clamp. this is easy to test, just pull the deck out, find the red and yellow wires, twist them together, and connect to + battery terminal. then connect the black wire to battery negative. deck should power on. if it doesnt, its bad or the fuse is blown in the back or inside.

There's also a fuse for it under the hood.

ya i chcked the fuses.... so this direct power source wire rund from the battery into the headunit and u split the wire for the power source on the cheater harness ? or do u plug it into the back of the headunit itself

Check your ground wire 1st, then if the power wire isint connected to anything there should be no reason to split the wire. just connect it directly to the HEad unit given that the wire doesn't run directly from the battery without a fuse.

i JSUT had this problem last night on the EXACT same car lol. it was the 7.5amp fuse under the hood. make sure you check that, AND DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY before tearing stuff apart. im pretty sure that how it blew.

its right above the Power Window (40) fuse, which is funny because we dont have power windows
