well i have a 96 hx and i was wondering what parts i might need to install a header on my hx or "convert" to ex exhaust. i was told the cat converter is built into my manifold so i would need a new cat and a header and an ex exhaust? anything i would need for the o2 sensors? i was told the hx o2 sensors are different than others so would i need new o2 sensors

You need an OEM EX header (from a 96-98), an EX catalytic converter (or straight pipe), and an extension cable for the secondary O2 sensor.

ok and what about the o2 sensors i know theres a bung welded in to aftermarket headers (right at the bottom of the header where all the pipes meet) which would be the stock location for the first o2 but for the second one is it installed after the cat or right before or what

I just saw that you live in California, I live here too. To give you a heads up, there is no substitute for the catalytic converter. If you look at all the websites, they all say excluding California. We have strict rules here buddy, it will not ever happen.

I have an illegal header on mine, when i get a ticket i have to go to the state referee, and make everything stock. then i have to put everything back. If you end up going through with your plans, you might have to by pass the state inspection and just pay the fine, anywhere from $300 to $400, depending where you live. Mine was $350 in Los Angeles.

Also, it is not worth fixing up a hx. I recommend leaving it stock and selling it. Buy a different car and then fix that one up.
