Header Question

I am getting ready to order my evo2 setup and wanted a dc sports header to go along with it but I have a odd question.

How do you hook up your o2 sensor? Do you have to lengthen any cables? Also which would be better 4-1 or 4-2-1 one piece or 2 piece.

I know its a odd question but wanted to make sure.

its simply on you in my opinion all dc sport headers are the same and as for the sensor it fits the same as on a stock header no modifications

I thought the 4-2-1 header gave more power throughout the rpm range. And the 4-1 header gave mid to high end power and weighed less? Someone clarify these if they're true.

Yes, I've heard the same too. A two piece would be easier to install as well.

i think you have it backwards... 4-1 gives power to lower rpm range and 4-2-1 gives power to higher rpm range

i am going with the 4-2-1 header probably one piece. I got a few buddies that have a car lift so they can put it in for me

I hear that 2 piece headers loose power since there is the "gap" or something...something i just heard. I would just get 2 piece 4-2-1 cuz they look sweet and sound nice.

I just bought a 4-2-1 DC 1pc from ghostwidow because I heard the 4-2-1 gave more power in the lower-mid rpm's compared to the 4-1, but didn't give as much in the high rpm's and the 4-1? My car will mainly be a daily driver, so I figured the 4-2-1 would be my best bet. I decided on the 1pc header because I didn't want to have to deal with a gasket and bolts in the middle.

I think you should get a greddy header instead of a DC. DC is over rated and you can find a better header then that. 4-1 is mid to top end power, 4-2-1 two piece header is low end and mid range power and less on the top end. If you are going to drag (quater mile) you want 4-1 because you will be in the higher end of the rpm range the whole time. So there is not really a need for 4-2-1. I dont remember who said it but someone said a while ago that 4-2-1 is just better to drive around less lag off the light but 4-1 is better all around autocroxx and 1/4 you will be in the high rpm range more then you would be need the little tourque the 4-2-1 gives you. Look around more before getting the DC there are so many better headers out there you just have to look. And one piece is better then two piece good call nok.

You could get a high flow cat, but you dont NEED a high flow cat.

well i just ordered the 4-2-1 one piece. I am only using the car as a daily driver for right now and my stock manifold was cracked. I could have gotten another manifold but ahh heck with that.

yeah... 4-2-1 is for all around, and 4-1 is for mid to high end. You don't need a two-piece, install is pretty easy. The o2 sensors are going to be mounted on your new header in a different position. So you are going to have to find a new routing path. I just went behind the block and it worked out fine. Usually the o2 sensor plugs in in front of the block

also if the money is right go for the jdm one from inlinefour.com...the 421 gave me a better time than the 41..maybe its the ls motor then

It depends on quality, a good header like JUN or Hy-tech or comptech or like you said the jdm DC header will have a differant power setup with those kind of headers sometiems the 421 is better top end and the 4-1 is better low end. Know what i mean? I have the JUN and i think it gave me alot more tourque and high end power over my old DC 4-2-1 which i thought made no differance top end at all. I like the 4-1 better in imo then 4-2-1.
