headunit questions, (check this thread especially if you like alpine)

ok, so my stereo got stolen as some of you know, and i have now started shopping for another one.

Ive been looking around, and i would like to get the 60x4 output alpine, but the only one ive found that plays mp3 cds is ALPINE CDA 9853R and the CDA 9815RB and those look like its a UK model?

Does anyone know of a comprable us model, or if i can get that one here in the states at a reasonable price?

Im open to other suggestions too, the brands i like are alpine, panasonic, clarion. I dont like sony, aiwa, or pioneer. (those of you who know me can laugh all you want at the fact that ive had 2 aiwa car headunits, a sony, and my mini system in my room is an aiwa)

Kenwoods and audiobahns seem to be ok also. Eclipse in my experience tend to be overpriced but im open to those too.

What im looking for is something of high wattage (must be 50x4 or more) that plays cd/mp3 ... wma isnt that important to me.

also does anyone know anything about these new hip "hd-tuner" radios .... cause most of the stations here in the bay area now broadcast in hd so i wouldnt mind one of those either.

The 60x4 Alpine hybrid is no longer made. If you ask me deck power is a lie anyways. Any name brand deck only has 12-15 usuable watts before it starts to distort.
All the new alpine decks are awsome. If you wait a couple of months the higher end decks will be out.

HD radio sucks ass and is a gimmick to ensure you local radio stations can survive with the onslaught of sat radio.

Audiobahn sucks ass
and in my opinion so does eclipse.

Panasonics are good as well as Clarion and Nakamichi

how come they discontinued the 60x4? As far as i can remember on those they needed a direct fuse connection to the batt ... were people hookin em up wrong?

Thanks for the advice on the hd ... that will no longer even be a consideration while im looknig around.

I had a 04 panasonic one before that played cd/mp3/wma and was 50x4 so im just lookin for somethin a lil better.

that 50x4 crap is so over rated, they get like 18-22 rms and after that it starts to distort right away, anything 50x4 will sound like 60x4 imho, now your front/rear/sub outputs you want to look for something w/ 4volt + which will help in sound quality

i only amp my subs ... the rest are run off the head unit

I have a sony cdx-f7710 and I'm very satisfied with it, it pushes 52Wx4
It has blue lighting and a cool screen with still images and like 4 types of animation, including a car racing around in a city which is my favorite. It plays mp3, wma, CD-R/RW and it's XM ready. Like I said I'm very satisfied with it.

Aiwa = Sony

I had a Aiwa CDC-Z137. It was as good as Sony gets. It did have an external jack for my MP3 player.

I had a Kenwood exCelon too. Funny thing about that. My current KDC2025 sounds every bit as good, has easier to use controls, has exactly the same specs, and was less than $100. It doesn't have the cool little graphic of the car in motion that turns when your car does (that was impossible to see in bright sunlight anyway) and it doesn't read MP3s but other than that it was okay.

A friend of mine has an Eclipse h/u that is probably worth as much as his 2g Eclipse RS. I like it.
