I just did mine yesterday, you can use the cage that comes with the deck, or not. You only need two screws to hold it in if you don't use the cage. But not using the cage can be a b***h. Yea, it bolts right in dude.

You can see how it mounts in this pic

to bad the cup holders are useless afterwards.

yep, theres already metal brackets in there that bolt right up. i actually had to widen my holes a little bit, but it worked great.

i recently put an Alpine down there and it screws right in but sticks about 1/4 in too far... so while your down there think about fabricating a new bracket so the radio can sit back further... as for the finishing plate... depends how neat you are... IMO it's not needed if the radio sits far back b/c it's so low and the angles it'll be viewed at will make it look fine...

yeah but i want it to be flush and mounted pproper, not just thrown in there.. like theres the change area / storage area there now, that domes out and its just a hole no? like what do i use to finish it properly? and y would the cup holders be useless?

there is a bit of a gap on both sides once it is down there, but not noticed once it is placed.

I have my alpine down there. The faceplate doesn't fit, but it looks fine without it since it sits in recessed.

I did it.. took a little bit of filing, and it fit fine. The pocket is held in by screws from the back/side. once you remove those, it slides right out.

The reason the cupholders dont work (most of the time) is that most people just fit the radio into the hole and secure it. When you pop up the cupholder lid, the radio sticks out about 10-12mm, and the lid touches the radio faceplate, not letting it fully open.
With a little time and patience, filing/trimming in the right area, the radio can sit further back, thus becoming flush, and allowing the lid to fully open..
The lid then doubles as a "security" feature, as when it is open, it hides the radio ;)
Pic for visual reference..

However, as you can plainly see, I haven't recessed mine yet. Maybe this weekend, while it's raining..
