Heat?

Hey guys I have a 95 civic and I recently got my AC to blow pretty good and a big problem was my climate control buttons weren't engaging the compressor. Anyways, with winter coming I want to get my heat fixed, when I turn the knob to hot it makes the air a little warmer but nowhere near heat warm, almost still cold. Could it be the heater core and if so how would I test it/know its bad? Any help is good, thank you.

Hows your engine temp? Does it appear cooler than usual? Most often, little/no cabin heat is because your thermostat is stuck wide open not allowing your temps to rise where they should. If you never hear your radiator fan kick on, that's also a sign the thermostat is broken (stuck open). A common problem on high mileage cars with OEM thermo's. Replace it and see. They're cheap!

It usually runs about maybe a little over a quarter from cold? Not too cool I think. I also hear water rushing in the dash sometimes too. Radiator fluid is topped off too and bled.
