Today i finished up the sub install in my 98 civic. I turned on the car and the radio, and the sub started to work BUT i hadn't hooked up the power cable for the amp. Which i found super odd, so i hooked it up and went to test things out. I found that the sub is very "weak" sounding, and doesnt have much power at all. The amp is a legacy 1020 powering 1 JL 10" sub. It's bridged and the amp is set to mono. I tried playing around with settings to no avail. Switched amps with my cousins and it started to work. So could somebody please give me some suggestions before i go and buy a new amp :(

obvious your amp is in poor working order. Legacy is a flea market brand amp and your mating it to a name brand sub. look to another amp and if u bought the amp theu some dealer, ask for exchange or refund.

Don't save your money on things like these. If you buy cheap, it might not come out the way you want it to be. This applies to everything on your car.

yea man, jl is good s**t, and legacy isnt that great, the last thing you wanna do is damage your valuable sub, so unfortunately, your best bet is to buy a new amp
