Hi everyone,
I found this awesome club while tooling around on the web for information on how to install the ashtray behind the parking brake. I drive a 1997 Honda Civic DX Hatchback which I've had since 2004. It's a bit of beater - she needs some bodywork, for sure - but I love her. My mom bought it back in '97 and put about 200,000 miles on it. I've gotten it up to 330,000 since then. Still gets great mileage and has had a few major repairs, but she's never really broken down or stranded me anywhere.
Anyway, my coin pocket was stolen (!) a month or so ago (apparently my car is really easy to break into - it's the second time). I ordered a part that I thought was the coin pocket (which is below the steering column to the left, above the hood latch) but was actually the ashtray and cover that goes in behind the parking brake on the center console. I thought I might just install it anyway (since there's just a removable cover there right now) and order the coin pocket separate, but I have no idea how to get the ashtray in there! I'm a terrible n00b. It seems to fit but doesn't actually close. Is this normal? Any help would be appreciated!
