Im new to the site and thought I would say hey. I'm a regular on JDMCIVIC. My car is a 98 civic sedan. All i have done so far is 4-2-1 header, Intake, exhaust, Tien S-tech springs, type R style lip, DIY CTR headlights. I recently purchased some knock off Volk racing TE-37's, I just need tires. I also purchased a turbo. I plan on boosting the D-series in the summer.

Look nice, but if that is a D16Y7 motor & tranny under the hood, its not really worth boosting. Atleast have a D16Y8 in it to boost, or if anything get the Y8 tranny. BTW Welcome

You don't need Vtec for boost. The high lift and duration during Vtec doesn't help all that much in boost. Vtec is designed for natural aspiration, not boost. Good start though bro

actually the the Lift helps boost alot, duration is not what good for boost, thats why the make turbo cams for DOHC motor with high lift & little duration. & this is not a problem with SOHC turbo VTECs since VTEC only operate on the intake side. The D16Y7 is a low powered motor & long geared. Boosting that he would still get left by a EM1, I would of recomened doing something if I didnt know what I was talking about.

I gotta disagree with you civicsi94. I have a friend that has a boosted D16Y7. Ive saw him walk a few B16 and B18's. He was running 7psi on stock internals.

& i garrente it wasnt in a 96+ 4door, & he wasnt using a LX/DX tranny either, other wise a slightly modded Teg GSR would own him. LS's B16's arnt really that fast, so I can belive him taking out a EM1. I would hope so anyways. EM1 = 15.8 not fast

Just take my advice, & atleast go for a $400 D16Y8 swap. Youll be happy with it
