HELP! Car sounds like a tin can when hitting bumps

Yesturday i bought a 93 si hatch. I love the car but when i hit small bumps the car rattles like a tin can or some old heavy suspensionless piece of $h!t. Is this normal for this year? What can i do to help the cause?
