Question:

So on the 6th gen cd player / radio, for 99-00 (dont know if theres a difference), does the track display, for instance, track 8, 2:41 into a song, does that display light up for you guys at night? Id assume so since you cant tell what track you are on if not.

Well, the rest of my cd player lights up, but not that, what do you think it could be?

mine didnt, if i remember correctly. although i only had it for a day when i bought my car and got rid of it with quickness the very next day, so maybe i am wrong.

As you can see I took apart my CD player to make the bulbs amber, but cant remember if it light up before or not - maybe it did, but I f**ked it up when taking the CD player apart?

Yeah i really think it did before cause I wouldve been like WTF what track am I on and I dont remember thinking that.

There's "usually" a piece of clear acrylic that lays on the back of the LCD screen, that give's it illumination, or dual LEDs behind the lense.. There's also polarized flim over the screen, or supposed to have...

The cool thing about the polarized film, is say.. Say it lights up at night green background with black digits..
flip the film over, and it'll do the opposite.. black background and green digits..
This was a trick we (VW guys) used to do back in the day..

it is supposed to light up. while you have the radio out, replace it with an alpine or pioneer. should fix the problem.

Well, polarized film is kinda tricky to find.. but it wouldn't cause your problem.. I wished you were close-by, so I could come over and take a look at the situation, first-hand

lol, bro... why not just get another factory unit? you can find them pretty ceap i would assume... since people swap them out so often.

I think the led for the lcd is out, bud.. the polarized film would only change the lighting scenerio.. send it to me and I'll fix it
