Are the front speakers powered by the head unit or an amp?

check your wiring again and make sure that you positives are going to the positives and negative to negatives. theoretically...there shouldnt be a problem if you wired them just as you have said.

this may sound dumb but check your headunit to make sure the fronts arent faded out.

did you turn off the head unit before you changed speaker? did you use butt connectors? (if so you may have over crimped them)...disconnect it from power and reconnect it...hopefully you didnt blow it up...

touching metal would have have done anything. i have installed speakers for a long long time and never have blown one doing that and over crimping them wont do qanything either. you have them wired backwards

Replace the wires completely to the door. I had some dead wires on the driver side door. (I had a break in the connection somewhere but checked with a voltmeter before replacing them) After I changed the wires, no problems.

Yeah like some of the guys said, check your speaker wires again, if the wires touch metal, they'll ground out and not have any sound. Were your speakers working before?

This is what you should have if I remember correctly, I just worked on one earlier at work

Left Front (+) Blue/Green
Left Front (-) Gray/Black
Right Front (+) Red/Green
Right Front (-) Brown/Black

lol @ your buddy saying touching them to metal can cause them to blow.

Everytime i take my speakers out, i stick them to the top of my car that way i know theyre not going to move/fall and get damaged... and they work fine, besides... your speakers basket is metal, and its mounted to metal, using metal screws lol... its not going to hurt.

I think your wires are grounding out, or you MAY have the speakers wired into the wrong input on the back of the headunit.

if you touch the live speakers leads coming out of the back of the stereo to the door metal there is a chance that you will fry the amp in the head unit...someone correct me if i am wrong...which is why i asked if he turned the deck off before he changed speakers out...some people tend to drop the live speakers leads back in the door causing them to ground out...

i wonder if the guy fixed his problem yet?...and if so what was the problem...

overcrimping them can cause them tohave no sound...if you use butt connectors and you crimp the wires too hard it causes them to break and seperate inside the vinyl sheath...everything looks cool but no sound..i've seen it...and done it...

he didnt use butt connectors so its not the case...

well it turned out that I DID put the live speakers back into the car, causing it to ground out... and i had to replace the entire unit....sucks
