Help Me Make The Choice......

The very popular choice tons of people are making and have made. Which engine to swap. B16A2 or B18C1. I know there is a search button and I have used it. I want posts to help me make this decision and not to tell me to search. The bottom line is like almost everyone I want to have a fast and reliable car. This will be a daily driver. N/A or turbo which ever is faster and more reliable. I am not taking any shortcuts. My goal for my car is to run low 13's and be a daily driven car. I plan on keeping this car for a long time and I don't want to dump 10,000 into unless it will be reliable not just fast and will blow up after 20,000 miles. Please post on which engine would be better and the options i have for modding. Please don't say do what YOU want... Thank you

GSR aka b18c1 would be easier to build up but both will be able to do it

does the b18c1 respond better to modifications then the b16a2? What if you stroke the b16 wouldn't it be faster?

no the b18c1 is the gsr motor damn if you don't know that...... please don't give me advice

well for advice most people will tell u go with the b18c1...just b/c it has a lil more displacement than the b16

If money is no matter then the gsr engine will be the better choice obviously, they both have about the same aftermarket backing, B16A may have a little more. But again if money is no option then get a B20. If you choose the right mechanic or know what your doing, any choice will be a reliable one. If you want to run 13's, then realisticaly you should go with the B18C, with a healthly dose of nitrous, or a turbocharger, 13's is god damn hard to hit in an all motor car, especially if you go with the B16 (its the torqueless wonder, even though its what I have, and many of the people on this board) =)

H22 is just a waste of money IMO

B18c1 for two reasons:
1-stock is 170hp and 128 ftlbs
2-the longer stroke will give you some much need torque for the street

BTW, both the B18C(1) and the B16s have 3.189" bore, its only the 3.433" stroke VS 3.047" stroke that makes the added displacement, SO.... stroking a B16 would make it a B18 or larger. Besides, those who prefer the B16s, are those who want the higher revs. It just comes down to preference, but you will produce more torque with the B18C1.

undercover si. u say h22's are a waste of money, but u say theres no replacement for displacement.

i say this because with the amount of money you paid to swap your engine to the H22, you could have bored out a cheaper engine to get equal results...I guess it all depends on what engine you started out with. This is where I am coming from, H22 isn't a waste of money, swapping it just to get a small amount of displacement is IMO. no offense intended.

thats my engine pic your monkey..as for the engine thing..get a B16A2 and get the highest compression possible if you wanna stay all motor..if you wanna g0 turbo go with a H22A or a B18C1...:D

I have a B16, and my turbo is coming very soon, I left the bore stock, its still 1.6 but I have a thin head gasket i will install to lower compression, and I think safely I can boost no more than 16 psi, with head studs and bigger injectors, I have a s100 hondata w/ boost also (not installed), I think that will give me about 240 @ the wheels, maybe a little more, this is my setup in about one month if that helps you out any. If your looking for power go with a turbo setup, not all motor.

I'm going with the JDM B18C when I do my swap...both are excellent hp platforms though.

no i thought the b18b was the ls motor b18c1 is the gsr.

i would go with the gsr engine, vtec sounds so much better in a b18c than a b16...and with the gsr motor you have more possibilites (FI or NA)
but don't get me worng the b16 is still a sweet engine!

IMO my oppion if you have the $$$$ go with b20/vtec w/ turbo or h22a and turbo
after i fix my exterior all up i'm gonna do an h22a swap.
