I've been saving cash for a while now so my budget is $4300 .. so my car is 97 civic ex 1.6 liter vtec it has 174,xxx miles on it . So my question is with my budget should I do a complete build on my 1.6 and add a new turbo setup if that don't brake the bank or should I see about swapping to a dohc b16 and a new transmission keep in mind I really need to keep my a/c but would I have enough to turbo the b16 too or would I just build it for turbo setup later so which transmission would be best with the b16 if I don't do that which transmission can I add to my d16 to complete that setup thanks for any advice hope I have enough cash

im honesly not a big fan of the b16. i have a d16 vtec and beat a b16 swapped civic so its not necessarily worth it. if i had that money id honestly rebuilt the d16 you have and boost it. single cams are pretty quick boosted and itll save ya some money. its up to you tho.. i just never was a fan of b series engines. you could do a b18 maybe too.... or save some more and do a k ;p

Holy run-on sentence; I'm really confused here. You want to invest into a DOHC build but want to build your SOHC? Why would you need a new transmission for the D? If you're going to turbo thae D without rebuilding stock internals, you won't get the same reliability as a clean, low-mid mileage and completely serviced B for the same price.

personally i would rebuild and boost the d for that budget you could have a pretty beastily turbo build and you can keep your ac just get parts that dont make you delete it.

Keep the D-series and boost the piss out of it. build ur engine a bit and wait to do a swap. I personally wouldn't go with a b16, its not worth it. I would go with a B18. but that is my personal opinion.
