Help me out here. My CEL and Oil light are coming on at the same time... It happens when I brake a little hard and take off. Nothing else really. They just come on and off together when that happens. Any suggestions of what it might be? THANKS!
FIXED the problem! It didn't need oil but It was a tad low, I put some in the other day. They still came on so I unplugged the battery and re connected. Nothing wrong now!

Have you run the codes? Can't really help you unless we know what cel code it is throwing.

be careful with that oil light. my hatch did that. and now im replacing the motor cause the oil pump's crappy flow ended up spinning a bearing.

your best bet if that motor is still running is this:

1. replace your oil pump with a ported oil pump.
2. replace your CRANK with a crank from a z6.
3. replace your bearings.

the y series cranks are garbage. a lot of people strictly blame it on the oil pump, but its not just the fault of the pump. the y cranks are only half drilled journals. meaning they're only drilled halfway through the lobes. therefore taking longer to lubricate the bearings. also requiring more oil pressure to keep them properly lubricated at high rpms. the z6 crank however, is drilled ALL the way through. lubricating the bearing on two sides. this is also why the z6 block is superior to the y7/8 block. plus the oil pumps were way better on the z6. unfortunately you cant easily fit a z6 oil pump on a y block. it can be done, but its a pain in the ass and you therefor delete your oil dipstick with a z6 oil pump lol

The oil light indicates that the oil pressure is low or that there's a problem in the oil pressure light circuit (shorted wire or bad pressure sensor). The proper next step is to measure the oil pressure.

The only time my oil light ever came on I was very low on oil. I was driving up a hill off-road (gravel driveway) and it flashed on. Knowing I have an oil leak I immediately turned the car off and let the car roll back to a flat position. I checked the oil and there was none on the dipstick, so I added oil to the right level and no problems since. Did my oil light just mean I was low on oil? Or did it mean low oil pressure, due to being low on oil?

low pressure due to lack of oil. why does your car leak or burn oil? it'd probably be best to solve that issue. regardless of what it is, its still a pretty easy fix. but if your car is low on oil than there's not much oil pressure.
