Well right now ihave a ef hatchback but im lookin at a 97 civic coupe. the guy claims its a blown head gasket and that it still runs and drives. were planning on trading and i put a little bit of cash on top.

now if it is a blown headgasket and thats the only problem, how would i go about fixing that? would it be worth it to just do a mini me swap? or would that even fix the problem? or should i just get it and get a head gasket replacement kit?

yeah good point, but i just wanna look at his cuz i love that body style of civic, my dad just got a 98 and i drove it yesterday and its so much more fun. plus im looking for a car i can start learning about hondas a bit more. like i know enough to do simple maintenece but i wanna start doin some mods on my own. and i like my ef but i dont wanna put a buncha money into it, id rather get this 97 coupe fix it up and mod it becuase i dont think a car i bought for 800$ really needs more than 800$ spent on it hahah you know what i mean?

If the blown head gasket in the 97 Civic caused the engine to severely overheat, then the engine is toast and will need to be replaced.

if it severly over heated would it still drive? cuz the guy said it ran and drove. and he said its probably a blown head gasket.

Yes, a severely overheated Civic engine might still run but it will be a never ending source of problems. Buying a car that has an engine with a blown head gasket is a big risk because it almost surely overheated and possibly warped the engine beyond repair.

alright well im gonna look at it and make my decision then. i do know someone selling a good condition low milage vtech and its the same year and everything as this car so if i can get that and the car i think i should be golden. he said the car itself is in good condition but the headgasket is most likely the problem. so we'll see. thanks for all the help guys
