I did a search but Im in a rush so i was hoping you guys could help me out with some links.

So its my girlfriends birthday soon and she has no sounds in her car. So i bought her speakers, a amp, a sub, and a headunit.

I wanted to install everything myself and this will be the first time installing car audio.

So i was wondering if you guys could give me some links to writeups on installing

-front and back speakers
-headunit
-amp

Thanks Guys!

for installing the head unit just go buy a harness at a best buy or somethin and the colors match up to the harness on the head unit. i forgot what type of connectors i used but if you want something to last get the stuff without insulation and crimp it with some of that shrink tube on the outside or just solder it all with the shrink tube on the outside too. also look into if your gonna need a dash kit or not. speakers are the simplest since all you gotta do is take off the grille and then take out the screws, cut the wires, find out which is positive and which is negative and then just solder them to the new wires and pop em in. how you gonna do all this without her knowing??

Don't buy a wiring harness or a dash kit from best buy. They are both $20 a piece, we went to walmart and spent a total less than $20. Same products.

my bad for stating that. i just went there cause i had a gift card and knew they sold them. onlinecarstereo.com got em for like 6-8 bucks but that would take a while to get it....

thanks for the replys.

And im going to do this without her knowing. Well just tell her i need to use her car for the day and let her use mine.

She always wants to drive my car anyway (because its way nicer than hers ;P) but she wont get suspicious.

well some of you guys might or might not know we just had a baby exactly a month ago. So im tight on money.(keep that in mind)

-kenwood speakers in front dont know the model number but i bought em for my accord(before i sold it)
-eclipse speakers in back (took out of my accord when sold it)
-Rockford amp used but practically new.
-small 8 inch visonik sub i got from a car salesmen at honda lol (me and my girlfriend went down to honda dealership and test drove a mugen si and made friends with the dealer and he said he had a extra sub he wasnt going to use so he gave it to me)
-small 8 guage amp wire. (amp only 500 Watts)
-1 DIN dvd deck from china. (i have a online store and selling them so im gana put in her car as a sample and she can use it)

So like i said as i was tight on money

I already had rear speakers from my old accord.
Kenwod speakers i bought and are brand new just never installed
amp got off ebay for 17$ shipped
sub got for free from honda dude
and deck from china (cheap price and you guys may be steered by that but i sell them and got samples in and they work great. no problems!)

What you guys think on the budget sound setup lol.

def go with the wiring harness for the stock radio plug, so much easier. best way to do back speakers is to fold the back seat down so you can get to both sides of the back speakers without getting out of the car.

great start with a budget system! 8ga is plenty for any system i think. im usin it for my 1000 watt chrunch amp at nothin wrong with it. 8" sub sound kinda puny since civic rear speakers are like 6x9. but since it free i guess that makes up for it. lol post some pics when done btw

yea ill def post up pics.

and yes the sub is SMALL! its in a truck box.

The reason im putting it in her car is because she needs space for the stroller and whatnot so the small sub is perfect.

Plus i put it in my civic to test it out and i only got 400 watt amp and it hit pretty good lol.

nice. well why not do a custom box like this? (pardon the 15" box in the middle)

mines kinda crappy but when my moms car broke down i had to take her to get groceries and you should seen how packed i got my car with one of them sub boxes on either side!

i would!

but i dont know how to do that myself and it would be costly to pay someone to do it plus get a sub to put in it.

Thats nice though.

well if you can cut 90' angles, you can make one of these. this is actually the product of my boredom. lol 3/4 mdf(or whatever its called) and alot of screws-never nails. roll of carpet from pep boys or walmart, and a staple gun. oh and a tube of chaulk and spray paint for the inside if you use plexi glass. sub boxes are like soo easy to make if you just spend an hr planning on where its going and what volume you need for it. since you got an 8" you could prob face it like this

yeah this was my first sub box so it sucked but since then ive made like 4 or 5 systems and one of em actually bowed out my trunk a bit. lol

thanks =) yeah i made that when i was 16 (bout 2 1/2 yrs ago) that one has a vent made of pvc pipe and for being like 1.7 cubic ft it hit pretty hard. just dont mess with fiberglass cause that stuff is hard to work with. i did it and it turned out good...but it took like 2 months to get everything right since i kept giving up since the fiberglass never set right on the 3rd and 4th coat. but GL! and if you had lived in NC id have built the box for ya if you just brought me the materials :D idk why but i just like designing/building systems. i built this for my brothers 93 camry

when i was building it he saw me spray painting the letters and i just told him it was for a friend wth the initials JD and he believed me. lol

heres what ive got so far on my fiberglass box install. the white fluffy stuff = epic fail. i was hoping it would be more like fleece, but wasnt, i just used fiberglass cloth to get the basic shape and am in the process when i have time to use some trunk carpet for the rest of it. its made some progress since this pic, but not much.
right now my 12 is just sitting in a 1.76 cu. foot, bare mdf box. (its a shallow mount)
