Ok as most of you probably read in the P&B section...i had planned to do a mild N/A build on my d15b7. It consisted of

b7 block
y8 head
I/H/E
Stage 1 cam
Skunk2 valvetrain
chipped ECU
other misc stuff (fuel reg, rail, ignition, etc)

Now...I want to go to a homemade turbo setup. I searched through homemadeturbo.com but my question to you guys is...what is the best matched turbo and intercooler for a d15b7?

Ive read all kinds of stories about blowing up d15's with turbo...so i have reliability on the top of the priority list. My b7 only has 116,000 miles...its got 200 compression across the board so i was thinking 6-7 psi of boost and an intercooled setup. It pulls hard for a d15 as it is...i just want more. I have a couple questions:

What turbo should i look for? ( and what car is it off of)
Which is the most reliable and cost effective manifold choice?
What is a good form of management?
Whatelse am i forgetting?

plz help me out....ive posted this on 3 boards and noone has helped at all...it will be greatly appreciated.

how much power are you looking to achieve, and dont say how much psi, thats not what breaks motors...hp is. also, what sort of driving are you going to be doing? do you want it to spool fast for a more "point and squirt" go...or a highway late boost go?

If you want a quick spooling turbo a great choice would be a t25. if you are going budget you can get a hf manifold and adaptor plate for it too. btw, i have a t25, with plate, hf manifold, probe/mx6 intercooler, and 1g dsm bov on pipe for sale if you are interested. very good price too might add.

im not looking to make a s**t load of power. I want to have something fun to drive. I was thinking somewhere in the 160-170 ish range. ( is that about right?). How much are you looking for that stuff sean? I dont hae much money seeing that its right after christmas but ill definitely get it off of you....even if i had to do a piece at a time you know.

IF i used this setup:

T25
HF manifold with plate
the 1g BOV
and the Probe intercooler

What would i need for boost control? fuel management?
How reliable would a setup like this be?
Is there anything else id need....sorry for being such a newb on this....this is my first dive into forced induction.

thanks alot for the help so far, and lets keep it coming

boost controller, id get a manual one..you can either make one or buy one for around 80 bucks. fuel management..well since you are on a budget and you are running a low boost/power set up, get an fmu-missing link-and inline booster. reliable, well fmu is definately the cheapest and not necessarily the best way to go. my friend, who i helped out, ran an fmu setup on a stock d16z6 at 10psi (ihi rhb5 turbo, little bigger than a t25) and it ran fine for over 2 years..almost three if im not mistaken. what else youll need, charge pipes, a custom downpipe made, guages, oil lines, and thats about it....

if you wanna talk about the turbo stuff pm me.

hey I am doing the same thing just dont want too much power just a little and knowing that I did had a turbo honda. anyways I have a d16z6 in the process completing. I use the tdo4 turbo from the 90 eclipse that is a very small turbo because I am the kind of guy don't rev hard so this is perfect because its fully spool at 3000rpm. and all of my piping is 2.5 inch with a 30x5 intercooelr so all of my piping and intercooler is plenty for my set up. or what u could do is usa a small inercooler like the one on the eclipse and talon. I just get the big intercooler and piping because later on if I swap out my motor I still could use the old stuff and I also change out my injectors too. the cheapest way is to go to a junkyard to get all of your parts. my whole set up is about a grand cause the most expenive thing of mine is the brand new vafc 2. I know I am blabbing a lot but I hope this kind of give u a idea
