I have a 2001 Honda civic timing belt broke replaced the belt but the guy said when he tried to tighten it it wouldn't completely tightened he removed the bolt from the pulley and said that the threads are stripped now I have no idea what to do my car runs perfectly except this issue what can I do to fix this issue any ideas PLEASE HELP!!!!

The threads are stripped on the bolt side, crank side, or both?

Yikes... how bad? Can you provide pictures?

Honestly this bolt is very important. It will hold the crank pulley on with the lower timing belt gear, and help hold the crank in place. If it's stripped out in the crank you're going to need a new crankshaft...

Iam sorry I can't provide picture's but it looks pretty bad I appreciate your feed back.It sucks though I had to replace 2 valve's got the head done I thought I was good to go now this

Another guy also said I could do that but several others say its not a good idea,I really don't know
