Okay, so I dont remember where I saw a thread for it, but I couldnt find anything on here. Some people have a DIY on doing the side panels for a 98 civic ex like, recovering it with different fabrics, well I started and now its just pretty fail. -_- The panel wouldnt screw back in into the door, and idk how to like reattach it to the panel itself. In other words, I got the arm-rest thingy (where the window power buttons are) covered with the new fabric, but idk how the hell to reattach it because the original ones were like melted on. If anyone could help or had any advice it'd be greaaaaaaatt =D
Thankss

after you take the panels out, dont try to heat the plastic back up and melt it in place. rather get short stubby screws with a thick thread pattern and screw them back in place. but the screws have to be short like a 1/4 in long. otherwise it will go through the other side and show on the interior side of the panel

hmm... I tried that it didnt work so well.. like I bought screws, thick short ones, and its just being a pain to put them back in. like the melted things are kind f**ked from when i took the original out, so im assumin I just have to like clean em up more and then try to rescrew em in. Any advice for bumps/weird corners with the new fabric?

Bubbles on tweed? That is pretty hard to do. It isn't very hard to do tweed. Where you get problems is in leather and vinyl where it is harder to keep smooth.

Fold the fabric over itself (glue side out) and start putting it on the panel from the middle outward. If you take your time and smooth as you go, you shouldn't have any bubbles or creases. Especially not in tweed. Not air bubbles anyway. Perhaps the bubbles you are having are from excess glue and not air?

I have covered tons of speaker boxes, amp racks, and custom panels in tweed and have NEVER gotten bubbles. Vinyl on the other hand, I have had it happen a few times when I wasn't stretching enough.

I can't speak much for these inserts though because I have only done them once and the glue lifted the first time it got warm out and the car interior heated up. I am going to give it a go again soon and see what happens with a different type of glue.

Next I laid the old fabric on top of the new and made it 2’’ bigger all around.
Using 3M spray glue bought at H/D I covered the entire armrest MAKE SURE YOU COVER EVERY PART OF THE ARMREST WITH GLUE and I light spray over the new fabric
But be careful not to create puddles of glue.
Now lay armrest on the fabric I worked from the middle out, take your time on the pointy ends and work it smooth I cut some relief spots in the new fabric which helped out.
