So I went to pick up some gas for my dad the other day. I put the gas on the floor behind the drivers seat. When i pulled out i was pulling across traffic and wasn't thinking... I pulled out too quickly and the container fell over and leaked all over my carpet..

Long story short... How can i get the gas smell outta the carpet?

water and soap. maybe some stain remover and let it sit for 5-10 minutes then scrub for about 5-10 again. That's what I did for getting a taco bell large pepsi outta mine

Good luck though

Least it will smell good.. My friend spilt a WHOLE gallon of white ceiling paint on the floor behind my driver side door.. Gas smell > Paint smell.

I agree. Gas smell isnt that bad......outside. I dont think I could stand it in my car. Try to air it out as much as possible. Drive with your windows down whenever possible.

Then again, moisture bonds to gasoline pretty well, and over time that may cause mold. You may want to get that out as soon as possible. Pulling your seats out will help you really get to the WHOLE carpet. Scrub the crap out of it.

Most grocery stores will have shop vac and steamer rentals. Seriously steam or shop vac the crap out of that thing. Then do what VJF said above.

Windows down, doors open trunk open as much as possible. Just let it breath as much as possible. Either that or "accidentally" light your car on fire. Take that insurance check and buy yourself another Civic.

Fraud schmaud.

I'd get some foaming carpet cleaner leave it soaking for about a half hour then wipe it off with a shop rag and shop vac all of it out. also vent out your car too.
