Hey Im new to the site and getting my first car soon, hopefully Wednesday...its a 96' EJ6 Hatch, i wanna do a K swap but im not sure exactly what the price of the engine/transmission is looking like or to put a K20a2 in or a K24, plus im not as experienced in cars as most of you, but i have a great understanding of how they work due to the fact i work on Airplanes at school and they have engines, turbochargers, wheels and tires etc so i understand the talk...when i get it ill post pics !


tips on the forum will be greatly appreciated

Thanks, do you recommend buying parts off the store section of the forum ? also do you know the average price to buy and swap and engine in ? im doing the swap with me and a couple friends so its just the price of a k20a2 or a k24

The store is safe to buy from and a k swap is in the 5-10k range but can be a lot more expensive it all depends on what you want to do with the car...you can get it cheaper if you find it local maybe but if your gonna order it from a engine distributor like hmotorsonline it's gonna be a couple grand just for the engine.

Price on a swap depends on which swap and if you can do it yourself. Swaps are much easier than they used to be. I believe K-Swaps are straight bolt-ins now. I've been out of the K-Swap loop for a couple years now but I would say expect to spend at least 5-7 grand for one. Maybe less if you get a K24.
