Hello,

I joined awhile back when I still had my 88 CRX HF. About a year and half before I joined here I drove all the way from VA to CT to pick up a black on black 97 EX. Thing was it had a salvage title and I had lots of issues trying to get it registered in VA. It had no airbags, busted windshield, missing interior peices and bad wheel bearings in the back. So it sat for quiet awhile until I moved to WV where I started to try to get it on the road.

...Needless to say a friend offered to trade me his 99DX that I had helped him with long before I had my first CRX. He was more willing to go through with the registration process.

So now I had a 99DX with no motor. My friend actually had issues keeping a motor in this thing, the first y7 bit the dust about a yr after he had it, then we swapped in a y8 with EX harness (about when I got my first CRX Si) and everything. Later swapped in a rebuilt EX trans that I got with the motor I was going to swap into my CRX. (a rebuilt d15b7/y8 mini me) Well that lasted about 6 months I think..and then the car was parked again.

Later I found a d16z6 for him and we took that apart and replaced all the gaskets top to bottom and got it in the car whilest replacing bunch of stuff as the car had been sitting. Converted back to OBd1 with a chipped ECU, got it in and running...took it for a drive and went to come up a hill and it died. Wouldnt start back and then when it finally did it had a tapping noise coming from the head. Wasnt in the block, it was a lifter on one of the intake valves. It gets parked again. Total run time....20mins.

Sooooo.....later again he bought a rebuilt d16z6 head, we got that on and going. Drove it around nice and easy again praying it would be good now. The motor sounded nice and quiet too...
Later that day my friend calls me and say the motor started knocking like the y7 and y8...only worse.
Sure enough we took the d16z6 apart and rods 1-2 had no bearings at all, We suspect the oil pump went bad. And he was just cruising on the highway when this happened.

So more or less Ive worked on this car ALOT.....well before I owned it. Now I do and its a nice step up from the CRX. The CRX didnt have heat and was getting kinda beat. ANd so was I was stiff ass skunk2 springs and Illuminas stuck on hard.
The rebuilt d15b7/y8 mini-me now has close to 85k on it...the trans I got with it thats now mine again LOL, has about 1.5k on it...it shifts like butter! We pulled the mini-me from the CRX and threw it in this thing with my ECU and Ive put over 800 miles on it so far....car itself has like 96k...

Its definitly.....ricer... Ive already started taking the stickers off. They are kinda baked on there from the car sitting off and on for so long. I was going planning on going to back to stock bumpers, but ever since Ive known this car its had this kit on it....it was originally dealer installed by Cole Honda, and its fully urathane. So it will stay for now. Its grown on me to be honest...

Plans are to lower it and maybe boost it with the little 14b turbo kit I was saving for my CRX...

The kit will have to stay for now, My $$$ needs to goto other things for now.

I will be lowering it, and getting rid of the stickers as soon as I pick up some "Goo Gone"...that Alpine sticker in the back is REALLY on there...I spent 15mins scraping at it with a razor blade and only got the end of it off...

I would like to pick up some Si tails, side markers, Si grill, and eventually restore the headlights. Maybe even an EX, or Si spoiler after I locate another trunk lid.

Heh, Ive already removed, underglow lights, interior lights, red loom, the wiring mess under the hood from the lights, and traded most of the painted interior peices for stock. Me and my friend have found another 97 EX thats been sitting for 2yrs and plan to go in on it together for parts. I want the EX front brakes,(I already have a teggy rear disk setup) power windows and maybe some other stuff....my friend wants the whole front end for his 97 EX.
