Just wanted to say "Hi!" from Upstate New York. I just lucked into a 2000 Honda Civic Hatch this past week. I drive tow truck and was called for a jumpstart. I pulled up to the house to find a woman cussing her Honda Civic like a sailor. I asked her what the issue was and she told me what a piece of junk the car was and how she was sick of messing with it. Her husband had just bought her a new Honda Fit, but she wanted to get the Civic running. She told me the car wouldn't even turn over. I opened the hood and found the positive cable disconnected from the battery. I reconnected it, hooked the jump pack up to it and it started right up.
She continued to rant and rave about how much work the car needed and how it wasn't worth the hassles. I asked her what she was looking to get for the car. She asked me if I was seriously interested in it and I told her I was. She told me to wait right here a minute so I did. A couple minutes later she came back out, signed her name on a piece of paper and handed it to me. She told me to enjoy the car and to get it out of her driveway. She had signed the title over to me and told me to enjoy the car.
So I have gotten a 2000 Honda Civic and am now in the process of figuring out what to do with it. The car has 233,000 miles on it and has a few spots of rust. It has a very loud exhaust leak, the passenger door doesn't open from either the inside or outside, and the 5 speed shifter has a ton of slop and play in it.
As I said, I'm not sure which way I'm going to go with this car. I'm new to the Honda scene, but have always wanted to try my hand at turning one of these into a "Tuner", even though I'm 47 years old. I've had some enthusiasts tell me the hatchback version isn't a popular choice for modifying and upgrading, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it at this point.
At any rate, I just wanted to introduce myself and thenk y'all for allowing me to join this community. I look forward to getting the inptu from the experienced members here and also making new friends along the way!
Later,
Brian
