Hi ! My first Civic & looking for mod advice!

Hi guys, first time poster and looking for some knowledgeable guidance.

I'm about to buy my first car, a sixth gen Civic - coupe as opposed to hatchback. I'm not a teenager, I'm about to turn 21, but I've been more interested in motorbikes until now - where a car has become necessary. The insurance for me is going to be a little over £4k! (That's about $6.8k to you yanks - insurance costs a bomb over here in the UK) seeing as I'm a first time driver, but I'm willing to pay that to avoid driving a corsa/clio

So, once I have the car, I'm going to be looking at modifying it as often and as much as I can afford to. Obviously, however, being new to modifying cars - I have absolutely no clue where to start. So I'm looking for advice on the first things, one should do, when modifying a sixth gen civic -

- what are the absolute musts that will instantly enhance the car/driving experience?
- what are the best optional modifications that just make it a more appealing car on the eye, and more enjoyable to own?
- and what are the modifications one should look to make further down the road, once the basic ones have been done?

Appreciate any help or advice you guys can give.

well i wouldnt mod your car until you check everything out first, i would lower it first, makes driving a little more fun and a much better look, body wise dont do body kits, to me they look like crap unless done perfectly and it looks right, and just make your car for you do what you want to it and make it look good and fun to drive, just make sure you do your research

Well as far as appearance, that's up to you. Just make sure it doesn't look ricey and make it JDM (fog lights, taillights, black housings or type r headlights, an HID kit, some nice 15" or 16" rims [Rotas, konigg, spoons, look around and see what you like]). To improve your driving experience, i would swap the motor out and get something bigger (b16, b18, b20), get a skunk2 suspension, control arms, rear and front strut bars etc. IMO
