Hey guys, im going the custom exhasut route for the 15g thats going into the EG. I was planning on a apexi WS but this would of robbed whp and tourqe.

I plan on 3" piping with an oval magnaflow muffler with a 3" inlet. Now although i would MUCH rather run with no cat, it's pretty damn illegal and im trying to keep my set up as legit as possible. If I go with a high flow cat would would hp loss be minimal?

Also would it be better to run with no resonator or does it matter?

PS this is for a JDM D15B vtec in a 92 Si.

Thanks in advance.

Honda cats flow pretty good. I don't think a high flow cat is gonna be much better.

Def get a 3" exhaust. If you dont have emission tests there get a test pipe if you do get a high flow cat. And yes you will open up more hp. Remember the bigger the better.

Drop in a Cat out of a full size chevy truck, 3' all the way thruogh and get some flanges welded on, or get a flow through Cat(basically a resonator that looks and bolts on like the Cat) and you'll be all good.......there isn't any huge backpressure in an resonator or glasspack is all it is...........

If I where you I would go for the Tanabe super medallion catback... fully avionic metal better then t3 and by the way Apexi is only coated on the outside layer
Tanabe all the way
I'm picking one up myself before summer

baaaaaaaaaaaa

you could always just knock out the inside of your cat and make it look legal and swap in a fresh one if you need to do emissions testing

untrue. once maximum air flow is achieved, no more exhaust will flow. period. 2.5" will be more than big enough.

^^ that depends on the setup. for a greddy kit on a stock motor, ya 2.5 is plenty . . . . . for a fully built honda motor w/ a big turbo running 12psi+ 3" is the way to go and for the track only cars, open downpipe

yep your right..I was reading something the other day that discourged me from the 3" and down to a 2.5. Only because Im gonna be under 300whp. After 300 bumping up to a 3" will show you more positive effects than a 2.5.
