a high flow cat will definetley help out a lot on a boosted car. Are you running at least a 2.5 inch exhaust piping??? that too would help a lot to relieve some of that back pressure from the td04.

save up for an obd 1conversions, hondata s100, and then run a test pipe...your car will be much smoother

its not like a test pipe really increases flow THAT much, youll see little gains. and whats the point? you wont pass somg or anytype of inspection. they visualy look at it, and they run a test.

A test pipe is pretty much NO CAT. its just a straight PIPE, meaning its just a basic pipe that looks like the exhaust piping.
its the best thing you can do to a turbo setup. the catalytic converter is a bottle neck in the system and to help free that makes so much difference.

good luck passing inspection. i dont see the point, sounds kinda dumb to me. i mean i know the reasoning but its not like its gonna make a dramatic change in power that will be notciable.

Here what you do when emission testing comes around (once every 2 years i think):
1. unbolt test pipe
2. bolt up a stock cat
3. get your emission test
4. pass emission test
5. go back home
6. unbolt stock cat
7. rebolt test pipe
8. get drunk and celebrate

and yes, there are significant gains with a test pipe, i can get some dyno graphs from the shop if you like.

Straight Pipe systems free up the back pressure with a CAT system. The turbo setup will boost easier as well without the backpressure on the exh system.

Here's an extreme case, A customer had blown the stock engine on the turbo setup. it was burning oil and eventualy melted the pistons after a couple thousand miles.
So when we redid the engnie with a new fresh block and refreshed head, the car wouldnt boost at all. I mean it didnt go anywhere. We checked the CAT and it ended up being clogged a bit from the bad motor. We gutted it out and it went from no boost all the way to boosting to 12psi.
In general a free flowing exhaust system is the best.
