High NO smog fail, HC upper limit at 15mph

High NO smog fail at 25mph, HC upper limit at 15mph

Hi Guys,

Trying to get my 1993 Civic LX through smog. Had a non CARB legal intake, so replaced with AEM short ram intake. Rest is mostly stock except for muffler. No issues with timing etc.

Results were as follows:

HC CO NO​

15MPH 68 67 | 0.59 0.10 | 731 548

25MPH 44 32 | 0.41 0.00 | 798 992

Only failed on the 25mph NO, but got close on 15mph HC too.

Any suggestions as to how I might be able to get them all within tolerance?

Did you drive the car for at least 30mins before doing the test? The cat needs to heat up

Yes I did. Gave it a decent run on the freeway. However, it did sit for 20 mins prior to the test. But I think that will be something that is hard to avoid as there is usually a car or two waiting.
