hey guys, i live over in VA, on the east coast, an we've recentlyt gotten slammed wit a bunch of freezing cold weather, like temps in the single digits, and just tonite ive started 2 get this really high pitched whirring noise, coming from the rear of the car. Im thinkin that its the fuel vacumn pump...maybe its got a hole in it or something. the weird thing is though, is that you can only hear it from the inside, not the out, anyone have the same problem with the 98 civics? (ive got a 98 civic with an AEM CAI, and i kno its not the intake makin that noise) thanks for lookin

Hmmm... I've been getting a high pitched whine from my car too that you can only hear from the inside, but it's from the front of the car and I think it's just vibration associated with the cold.

Right here, I have a 98 Sedan and I've got the same problem, but I can only hear it around 80+ km/h. Any speed lower it's too quiet to pick up. The sound is coming from the rear, not sure what's the problem.

Any feedback?

I get that whirring noise in the front. I think it may be the tranny but I'm not sure. I think it's just the cold weather.

does the noise stay constant? does it come and go? the reason i ask is because (yes i know you said the noise comes from the rear and that it's not your cai) but my cai makes a high pitched whirring noise when i accelerate at certain intervals.

its always there...and it flucuates up and down with my RPMs...i think it may be the fuel vacumn line possibly? or something have 2 do with the regulation of my fuel. but, no, ebrake is off all the time (cept when i park) , referring to above

For my car, the sound comes from the rear and can only really hear it when I'm at higher speeds. It sounds like something rotating, could it be the rear camber?

check ur tire wear on the rear, if ur wearing unevenly to one side i def. reccomend getting an alignment at a local shop, it saves ur tires and its better for the car, (camber, castor, toe)
