So I just recently got a 1999 Honda Civic EX 4dr Sedan, 1.6L 4 cylinder engine, blah blah blah. Anyway, what are some thing I could do to the car to make it a little bit better, I'll worry about expensive things later, but like little adjustments I could do myself and what not. Thanks!

Adjust the seat to it's most comfortable position, mostly tilts forward and back or slides forward and back, not real fancy. Also, the steering wheel adjusts up and down, the mirrors should be adjusted for visibility. I'm sure I'm missing a few things, but that should get you started.

Where in NJ are you, I could swing by to help out with any of these.

In all seriousness, what are you looking for. List some goals, short term or long term, maybe a budget and what you hope to get out of it and we can likely point you in a more appropriate direction.

Clean the windows to make it easier to see out of. Make sure you have round tires. Oh and don't forget to turn your headlights on at night. Do those things and your car will be better. Oh and fill the tank with gas. Almost forgot that one. :D

Better is a very subjective term

As you can tell, weak questions will prompt sarcastic responses on this forum, albeit some are funny. Asking how to"Make it a little bit better" is wildly vague. Thats like walking to a large mens clothing store and asking "do you have clothes?".

Please provide details in your posts to receive the desired responses. Also, familiarize yourself with the search function & do your own research. It is impossible for all of us to list every available option. In this case, state your desired goals and taste along with an idea of a budget. Are you looking for performance or visual upgrades? Details!

A tune up will do wonders and you can get a lot done if you or a family member can do the maintenance instead of paying a shop to do the same work. Unless these parts are new on your car I would replace; spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, oil change, air filter and a fuel filter. Replacing fluids will make your car last longer but it is important to purchase honda brand fluids because auto part store fluids can actually cause damage to your engine. welcome to CC btw

I have a 1999 Honda Civic with 302k. Oil changes and a minor tune will suffice. Change your automatic fluid every 15-20k. Btw, I never changed my power steering fluid, and no problems so far.

i highly suggest upgrading to all led lighting inside and out of the car, get white led festoon bulbs for your dome and map light, same for your interior trunk light. get some #194 white led bulbs for your license plate lights and maybe do your gauge cluster in either white our a color you like (stock white halogen bulbs are way to dim for my liking) your looking at about $50 for all of those bulbs.

if you can afford it maybe buy a dual din touch navigation stereo, i will be getting mine here in a few months (kenwood and alpines go for $700+)
