So recently I installed a new muffler (piping was already aftermarket) and a short ram intake in my 1999 honda civic ex. Is it necesary for me to get a tune up now? Also the gas gauge sometimes drops down a bit and then goes back up, not sure whats causing this, if anyone experiences this, can you let me know how to fix it? Thanks.

does the gas gauge go up and down when you are going up/down an incline? mine does this on hills all the time. i think it's because of the floater in the gas tank.

I never really payed attention to see if an incline/decline changed it. But sometimes its a dramatic change. Like it would drop like 25% and then go back up to where it was.

If i hit an incline it will definitely do a 25% dip, and then go back to the correct measurement.

People have been dealing with moving gas gauge needles on hondas for ever. It's common. Google it and you will see the proof of this claim.

So what about the tune up question?
You mean tune up as in spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, valve adjustment, etc or are you misquoting and mean tuning [the ecu]? If you are asking about a "tune up" and don't know when the last time one was done, I highly recommend a full one. If you are asking if it needs the ecu tuned, no. Muffler and SRI don't generally warrant doing a professional tune. You can if you want, it's your money but most don't. Waste of time and money on a d series. All you basically gained is a new sound out of the car, not any real justifiable power out of bolt ons to a d series.
