Hi, my name is Ray, i'm from Northeast, Ohio. My first car was a 1990 White Prelude Si ALB auto, and had another 1989 4WS 5-speed after that. Sold both of those, and have had Jeeps and Land Rover(current vehicle) since.

Well after paying for premium fuel only in my V8 Rover and getting 11mpg highway, i finally found a 40mpg fuel saver lol. A 99 civic HX with 180k and ZERO body rust, for $500 bucks. I get it tomorrow! I'll post pics when i get it. I'm still keeping the Rover, im using the honda as my daily driver for work. Has just a few small issues:
Sticky drivers door handle
Drivers window glass out of track
Both window motors slow
CEL codes(i think its a EGR issue if i remember the code from AutoZone)
Shifter seems stiff
and other small odds and ends(dings, scratches, dirty carpet, broken hood latch handle etc)
will fix everything a little at a time

Just wanted to introduce myself. :suprise:

So basically what you would expect from a $500 car. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Welcome, by the way!

the door handle is probably misadjusted to where there is to much slack in the rod, turn the handle a turn or two should make it better. the window track is easy just get the window back on track then at the bottom of the door there is a bolt for the track loosen it and slide towards the rear of the car then tighten it back up and the window should stay on track.the windows motors will always be slow until you buy new motors.

welcome.
I did the same. My gas guzzler makes my wallet sad at times. So I picked up another civic, I'm in Miami where insurance can be pretty high, but I pay $41 a month for insurance, and maybe $60 a month in gas. $100 a month feels amazing!

Thank you! I got the car home tonight, and rolled the windows down, and they wont go back up, yep they are off the track. i gotta take the door panels off and fix it. I'll get pics up soon! Thanks for the door handle fix also!

Got the windows fixed, motors are fine, windows go up and down quite fast. degreased the engine bay, gutted the interior and scrubbed it down with hot water and dawn dish soap, interior protectant on the panels, cleaned the seats, and tossed the nasty carpet. polished and waxed the exterior.

next on the list is oil and coolant change, and new brakes. Looks like a totally different car now.

Yeah really nice car for the price and nice work.

Down here I could sell that for 4k or just under in a day.

Good stuff. Its amazing how the little things can add up and make the car look so much better.

And glad to see you taking care of maintenance on the car before even trying to mod it.

damn thats pretty nice, especially for 500$. i paid 2800 for my 96 hx that was in the same condition as what you got yours in, it looks alot better now besides the faded paint

its not faded. it actually has an amazing shine. just the passenger door has some black overspray from when the previous owner tried to paint the window base trim piece and got it on the door and tried to wipe it off lol. its coming off, just a lot of hand rubbing it out to get the paint off.
