Hood Problems

Anyone elses hood starting to crack? When I look at my hood I notice all of these fine little cracks. I asked honda and they said it was from the heat of the engine.

Sorry, paint crack. But yeah, it looks nasty up close and no waxes or anything will fix it.

hmmm...never heard of this problem. was the car repainted? if it was, maybe it was shitty paint and thats why its cracking. i don't know. i guess your stuck, unless you want to pay to get it resprayed, or want to get a cf hood.

me tooo...i went to the dealer and they took me that its a factory defect, but not enough to issue a recall. Most 96-98 honda civics have that problem...damnnnnn honda dealers....

Yeah, I would get a carbon fiber before getting it repainted, if I only had the money.

just let it be... and get a cf hood when u have the cash.... s**t my hood's got some tiny dings and dents, and i'm not stressing over it cuz i know it's gonna get replaced

try waxing it if its not deep and only the paint that should take care of it

maybe some scratchX, some polish.... possibly fine-cut cleaner?

just get a carbon fiber hood, you WILL NOT regret it, i can vouch for that

the only bad thing about cf hoods is that most of the time the gelcoat will fade in about 2-3 years.

can that gelcoat be polished?

I have waxed it. Polished it. Had it professionally cut and waxed. And no luck. The cracks are just everywhere and it looks nasty.

damn, they've run cutting paint cleaner and it still has the cracks? damn, think u could take a pic for me to see? i'll talk to my friend scott about it, he's a professional detailer and knows some good tricks.... sounds like you're gonna need some heavy duty paint cleaner/cutter, then run some scratch/swirl remover to fill in the holes, some clearcoat, some oily polish to moisten the paint, and a good wax to protect it... but damn, that's very uncool of your honda dealership. i think u should write american honda a letter regarding this, see what they say. they'll prolly give u bull and not fix it, but it's worth notifying them that yet another customer is having an issue....

i wonder if this is the reason why honda turned to clover green pearl in 99, and stopped using cypress green pearl.
