A 2000 Civic EX Coupe stock is rated at 127 hp...now is that measured at the wheels or at the flywheel?

all horespower ratings for cars that are usually listed are at the flywheel uz its a bigger number. just assume its at flywheel unless it says, at the wheels, or whp

no you dont, i think the basic rule of thumb is you lose 10% of crank or flywheel horsepower through the drivetrain on the way to the wheels....so....say my si makes 160 and the flywheel its prolly putting down 145ish at the wheels. automatic trannies will obviously loose more power through the drivetrain, just cuz well they blow, and there are more parts. automatics loose closer to 15% of its power through the drivetrain

yeah but it still is more you have to gain back...

you can gain back some of that lost power buy getting a better clutch and flywheel, and taking off or getting better (lighter) belts for your ac, power steering, and alternator as well. doing this doesn't PRODUCE more horsepower, its more like freeing it up.

yea, except the revs can drop more between shifts, so u gotta be carefull and not get TOO light a flywheel, cuz the less momentum the flywheels has the more it will slow down between shifting gears.....but the revs climb a whole lot quicker which would be nice, i think im gonna get a 11.5 or 12lb one when i upgrade my clutch

have any of you guys heard of unorthodox racing they have a underdrive / pulley set and cam gears that suppose to give you up to 40 whp

i was looking at that, and i doubt it will give 40 whp, probably less than half that at the crank. i would stay away from pulley sets anyway because some of them can f**k up your engine, they throw off the balance of the crank if you have the crankshaft pulley...if ur gonna get lightweight pulleys just get the PS and AC ones, and leave it at that, but dont expect a huge power gain

yeah because from what i read from AEM that they only offer a PS pulley and a ALT pulley because the light weight pulleys can throw off the balance and mess up the crank and causing boom action
