if you want to keep the d16y8 then look into gettin i believe.....d16a6 pistons......they raise the compression up a bit....i think 11:0to1 you can pick those up really cheap...then you can use some b18b rods.....they do fit and thy can handle alot more punishment then the stock ones.....i have a write up around here somewhere on building a low budget d series......
uhh... why am i the only one who caught this? Do not put any b-series cams into a d-series engine... first off the b-series is a dohc so its cams are grinded for a completly different operation.
If you want to stick to a n/a d16y8 then you have to build the head up. This is a very expensive process. I suggest saving your money and taking the head apart only once. Better yet go get your self a head and build it up off the block and then just swap the head. Here is what you wanna do:
Valves, valve springs and seats (allow you to raise your rpm's).
Pistons: since your sticking to an n/a feel free to up the compression (11:1 is good 12:1 is better but nothign higher or else you will run into problems)
Camshaft
Roller Rockers (reduce friction in the head that would normally rob you of hp)
You can get a port and polish job,but dont let that be your main upgrade, it dosnt add all to much on the d-series (or even the b/h series since honda built them up pretty good) The only time you would see a large increase is if you added a large turbo.
Fuel: new fuel rails, injectors, regulator and spark plugs(for a cleaner burn, dont get nothing fancy since its n/a).
After that a good tune and you'll have ur self a quick one... and you can always add a turbo after (with lower compression pistons).
