How cheap can you go....

So there have only been 5 million threads on swaps, and about which ones are best, fastest, coolest, most popularly accepted by your peers, most "jaydemish" etc. However most threads are by dreamers, there are still many that are from people that have done them, but only few detail costs of the swap AND are current. How much someone paid for an ls swap or gsr swap in 2002 isn't all to relavent today.

So.... How much do you guys think b18 swaps should cost today? As well as I also want to hear from those who got some particularly cheap deals on some. I know sometimes you can get an LS swap for darn cheap depending on the situation.

So how much should obd2 b18c, and b18b be worth?
What is a good deal?
What is a great deal? Let's hear some of those cheap deals some of you folks have gotten.

I was recently thinking that it could be possible that a swap could end up pretty cheap. I mean potentially a $1000 LS swap with new seals/gaskets/belts, and potentially sell the sohc vtec for close to $500. I mean that may be pretty optimistic, but if I could swap the sohc to an LS for $500 over the sohc, that could be worth it potentially.
So what do you guys think? I bet there's probably even a few people out there who have bought a swap for less than they sold the sohc, let's hear it!

This is still going to be completely irrelevant in your quest for information. As prices vary by vast amounts in different parts of the country.

Here in Colorado, complete LS swaps with LS trannies can be had for $300-$800. Single cams (z6, y8, any single cam vtec) swaps can be had for $100 for the long block and $50-$100 for the tranny. Complete GSR swaps with GSR tranny for $1000-$1500.

Not too sure what kind of dream world youre in, $500 for a sohc motor/trans? :rolf:

Ya, I see people asking for $900 for non vtec swaps, doubt they get that, but $400 for a vtec swap tranny and all is on the lower end of the asking spectrum in the area I am in. It would be safe to expect $300 for one around here I think, and definitely could be more.

I see SOHC swaps here go for $500-1000, sometimes cheaper depending on if its stolen, f**ked up, or the guy doesn't need it.

LS swap is the best cheapest swap IMHO. Torquey mofo when compared to shitty d16's.

But if you want the most power while spending the least amount of pennies its SOHC+T.

in our area we can see a sohc vtec head sell for almost 200, you can get an ls for around 1k depending on how good your barter skills are you can get one for 700, that is what i paid for mine and you can sell for around 1300, right place right time is the key to it all. also if you get a car right out of pick-n-pull sometimes the deals can be had for crazy prices.

I hate you all.. The cheapest swap I can do (that's worth a damn) will cost 5 grand plus on average.

Just finished a B18B1 swap into my 94 cx hatch.

Full swap was 800 bones. That was motor and tranny with harness still on, shift linkage, ecu, axles, mounts and header. It needed a new starter an intermediate shaft (couldn't get off old cv joint) and i got an optima yellow top at the same time. New tranny seals and alternator belt ran me a litte over a 1100 bones

First swap on a honda and was easiest swap I have ever done

My buddys awd turbo'd talon barely can pull away, and they made 200hp at the crank i believe. He is running 15psi on a stock 14g with a 3" exhaust. Nothing too crazy but for a motor that makes a little over a140hp stock she makes me smile everytime i get behind the wheel.

D series swaps go for about the same price around here.

Ls swaps are cheap and Vtec head upgrades can net a ton of power.
