so today a couple friends of mine decided to go wash our cars before we went to the local hang out and i was driving down this road where they had been doing construction and in the middle of the road was a bug hump, (maybe a big chunk of asphalt) and i hit it. there were no warning signs about construction, uneven road, bump, etc. well that big ass clump of somthing attached to the road f**ked up my oil pan. and put a good 1 inch square hole in it. my dad told me to take pictures of the road (which i plan on doing tomorrow) and that i can take it to the county and since there were no warning signs, they can be held liable for it. my question is who do i take it to, and what should i provide as evidence that they need to fix the road, and they need to fix my car? any help would be appriciated. oh yea, here are some pics of the oil pan. i had to replace it on the side of the road cause i wasnt paying 70 bucks to have the car towed 5 miles to my buddys shop...

btw, that yellow thing is a piece of the reflector things that are in the road. its wierd that it broke the back part of the oil pan instead of the front

You need to call the city and tell them about it. I have had things like this happen and I have known people to get lips ripped off or rims screwed up. The city will pay for it to be repaired. At least in Texas. Since you have taxes for things like the roads to be taken care off. They should have been on top of that.

make sure the pictures you take include the side of the roads to where the bump was, that way they know there were no warning signs. As for who to take it to I'm not really sure, I would just get on the phone on Tuesday and start calling people.

i changed the oil pan on the side of the road  but im going to try to get the county to pay for a new one from honda, and the labor a shop would charge. cause its bullshit that we pay tax money for the roads, and the roads are like this. im going to go back and take a pic of the road, maybe i can find the other part of my oil pan
edit:: a new oil pan is 109.99 from kragen, and a gasket is 30 bucks.
