hey guys ive been trying for a while to paint my dash and for some reason the paint just wont stick!!! i know that i am doing somethin wrong so if anyone knows how to do it and for cheap please let me know!!!
How did you get the dash out of the car w/ airbags in it?ironh19 said:for my dash I wiped with alcohol to clean the surface then sprayed with krlyon fusion black, it came out perfect. I did my entire interior like this and I cannot tell that it was painted right on my back patio.
So if you prime it first you wont have a problem with paint not sticking, or bubbles... I'm thinking about painting mine....UK_VTI said:I did mine white and used a pastic primer, works great if you want to use regular car paint and not shell out for expensive "interior" stuff! Also, using plastic primer stops the paint bubbling during hot days.. a mates did this and it turned out nasty! Just make sure the surface has been cleaned!!!
By no means am I going for a ricy look but many parts were painted when I bought the car... I just want everything black...if i could FIND some OEM replacement panels I would buy them in a heartbeat...but I'm not gonna break the bank over it....plus it's a b***h for me to find any replacement parts.... at least around here... and YES I've tried EVERY junkyard within 50 miles....and no I don't live in the middle of nowhere... city is about 400,000 ish.... it sucks...Beelzebubba said:Okay, back in my less educated ricer days I removed the sections that I wanted to paint, sanded them in one direction to give them that brushed metal look, washed them thoroughly in hot soapy water, let them dry completely, painted them with several thin coats of bright aluminum paint, and then finished it with a clear coat.
It was ricey but it didn't chip off, bubble, or peel.
