How do you stay motivated?

I have been working on my build for 2 years now and I am running out of steam. I have spend around $9K in parts and have yet to really touch the engine, transmission, and suspension. My interior has been redone and I have a few rare parts and all of the engine bolt ons I can do. My exhaust is complete with a HKS Hi-Power, T/A exhaust manifold, and Megan Racing resonator (may change it to a test pipe). I am running a B16A2 and I am beginning to question if its worth it. It will be tuned with Hondata installed in a P30 ECU.

I have done a lot of work, but like I stated, the lack of motivation is ever predominate. What are some of the more well adverse builder's way of staying motivated to complete their project?

What have you spent 9k on and not even touched the engine?

My motivation was always hanging out with friends while working on cars. It was to have a good time more than anything, but since I have moved around several times and having less close friends nearby my cars are neglected more and more.

This.

For me I just look at other builds and it inspires me even more. I'm not riding any cocks here, but I want my car to look like 2slo4u's old coupe.

i have to agree blood. For me at least, its about the community based around our cars. Go to car meets and other events like Honda Day and it'll be a grander experience for you altogether. =)

X2 I get motivated by the people around me. I go to local car meets, car shows, street races every week. It can get old but there always that one guy in a well built car who catches my eye. It seems like you are trying to get the car done all at once and be finished. Maybe you should get the car running and drive it so you can enjoy the car while building it.

J series is overrated. Not worth it IMO.

Honestly, just the love for the hobby keeps me going. Look at other builds, researching questions I have, looking at parts... when I get sad and disappointed I just look at what my car used to be and think about what it has the potential to be. And the community behind it. I have my "car family".

How it is overrated? J series bottom end can handle just as much as a k or F and make more torque doing it.

Then why deal with the fitment (not to mention ugly fitment), when you can get just as much power with a K? Which has more parts availability and sounds better IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The hasport mounts place it correctly in the bay now, no having to have a cowl or your hood propped up anymore. It sits low but not any lower than a k IIRC.
