How much PAG46?

Hello my new friends,

I did a replacement A/C Sanden compressor, drier, evaporator, expansion valve, and HP hose from compressor to the condensor.

I flushed the condensor and most of the lines with "Agent Orange" SupercooL Extra Flush w/ the pleasant citrus fragrance. Air dried those lines and cond with shop air.

So how much PAG 46 oil (if this is correct) should be added to my sanden compressor? I see in the manual, one sanden calls for 4.33 OZ and another says 1.33 OZ How can I identify?

Hey Ron,
Thanks for the factory service manual pics. I have and read that, and tried to make sense of it. If I were just replacing the compressor in an existing system, that would be the procedure.

Seeing as I replaced the compressor, evaporator / expansion valve, accum drier, lines and flushed the condenser, I got a little confused by what the volume should be.

I did seven oz total, four in the compressor and distributed the other three throughout the different components. Just for heavens sake, I drained the old compressor into a graduated measure and pulled about 1.66 oz. No obvious debris noted in the drained oil.

The system is cold, the new compressor having much more volumetric efficiency as noted while hand cranking the oil from the suction side to the outlet I/A/W the remanufacturer directions. They did not say "this compressor needs this much of this oil". They refered back to the factory specs, and those had two Sanden compressors. One requiring 4.33 oz and the other calling for 1point 33 something oz.

How do I tell which of the two Sanden compressors I have installed?

Thank you,
When I first tried to pull up the pix you sent Ron, I was unable due to slow connection. After posting this prior statement, I was able to see the second table. This reman compressor came dry so I added 4 for it.

Although I didn't flush and dry the whole system (no evidence of debris or coating within the lines inspected) I did pretty much clean the entire system, The one liquid line from the drier to the evap was not flushed and neither was the low pressure vapor line to the compressor from the evap.

So, if I read correctly, I am probably pretty close to about right by adding 7 oz of PAG 46.

I just read here: http://www.autoacforum.com/messageview.cfm?catid=2.&threadid=17621
that the total capacity is 5.5 ounces. Where is that information?

I understand that just about anyone can post just about anything on the internet. Freedom of speech something the like...

I just want to ensure that I am doing a good job for my little girl. She drives a hundred miles a day and reliability is paramount. That and I hate doing things twice. Or more.
