DIY: Amber Defroster Switch EG *56K Go Away*
After doing a DIY Amber Clock, I thought to myself; Why not make my Amber Defroster light up Amber as well?
I take do responsibily if you mess up your own clock, Do At Your Own Risk.
Updated this DIY to include Nail Polish Remover.
Tools Required:
Multi-Colored Tabs ($1.xx something at Wal-Mart)
Scissors
Flat Head Screwdriver (Small tip works better)
Defroster Switch
Floridas Natural Orange Juic with lots of Pulp yum yum
Nail Polish Remover and Cotton Swabs
Remove your defroster switch from your car and go on inside and have a drink.
Start by pressing in all 4 tabs that hold the defroster in with the other one.
Now get your screwdriver and press in all 4 small clips, located right behind the switch.
(Helps if you do one side first and then pivot it to do the other side)
You can pull it out if you want to, looks like this:
You could replace the bulbs but that costs more than just inserting tabs.
Get your cotton swabs and nail polish remover and start wiping away that blue. Dont rub hard because if you do your'll go all the way through, which isnt good. wipe slowly and gently over until you can see through the defroster. once you cant see throught it nicely thats it.
Get your orange tab and start cutting 2-3 small squares to fit in behind the defroster, where the blue is. You dont need to tape it in because you're just going to sandwhich it all back together, just like the Amber Clock. Once you get the pieces in there nicely put the top piece back onto the back piece.
Resemble Everything and Go Test it out in your EG.
(Came out a little darker reddish orangish amberish but hey,I love it, don't you?):
Enjoy because now everyone will envy your Amber Defroster Switch.
Before I use the nail polish remover
After, looks much better now:
