-helped a guy out in the 4 gen forum so i thot i'd post it in here for everyone else
to take out your gauge cluster. you'll need a flat head screw driver and a philips
1. On the front on your gauge visor near your windshield there are 2 little covers, pop them out with a flat head screwdriver..you'll see what im talking about. unscrew those 2 screws holding in the top half of the visor.
2. Once you have those 2 screws out with the philips, your almost there. under the gauge visor, next to the air controls you'll see a philips screw, unscrew that.
3. On the other side under the gauge visor there is another screw, take that out.
4. By this time you should be able to pull the visor towards you, but not that hard because there is alot of wireing behind there.
5. Once you have the visor out about 1.5-2 inches, start to unplug the dimmer, the rear defrost and the hazard switch. the hazard switch connector is a b***h to get out so be patient.
6. Once you have the harnesses dsiconnected, pull the visor towards you and set in on the passengers seat.
7. Once you look at what you've done so far, recollect yourself and start up agian becuase you're almost finished.
8. There are 4 screws that hold the cluster unit in place. you have see they holy the plastic in place, unscrew those 4 with the philips. Once you have those 4 out, put the cluster out towards you, carefully. look behind the cluster and you'll see the connectors, disconnect all of them and be carefull not to de-pin anything. Next comes the speedometer connector. you have to squeeze in on the white clip holding it in and pull it out.
9. Now you have removed the unit to throw it away, sell it, swap it, whatever.
Repeat these steps backwards to re-install. if something doesnt work, recheck all of the connectors. When you have the connector in right you'll heard a "click". make sure to reconnect the speedo cable connector!
