I just bought a 99 Civic LX 4 door Auto...

Hello all,

My name is Chad and I work for a local Scion/Toyota dealership. I know I said it - the "t" word, but no doubt, I just bought a 99 Civic LX, Auto for my girl. We got it in on trade and I picked it up. Has a few door dings and dents and all. I know where I can get those fixed. My thing is - I need to know of places in the D/FW area where I can get cheap, but reliable parts, things like exhaust, Injen air intakes. My brother works for Fry's Electronics and can get me stereo accessories up to 50% off. I need hook ups like that. This is a cheap project that I would like to keep cheap. I already have the wheels and tires ordered from Motegi. I tinted the windows Thursday. I was thinking of doing an Injen Air Intake system. Any pros or cons of Injen verse AEM? Also, what would you recommend for some extra horsepower - any turbos available for that year and engine that are worth it??

Some of my other cars include a 97 Corolla, 04 xB, and soon to be 05 tC. I would love to hear from anyone who can advise me accordingly. Thanks.

try seaching AEM vs. Injen..you'll come up with something in this forum..i remeber posting in it.....but as for modding the SOHC non VTEC....D16Y8....I say get rid off it and get a B series....you can find cheap B18A/B's around but they dont have VTEC...plus they will give you more than your D16 ever will.

he has a d16y7 non-vtec, not a d16y8 which is vtec

hmm...its auto??? id just leave it stock...maybe a sound system but nothing more.

what are you talking about auto rules, at least mine does, you can still do exterior stuff, you dont have to limit yourself to just sound, and y not get a intake, it doesnt do much for any car anyways from what i keep hearing

why would you swap because its an auto? thats the reason i never would swap my engine. it would make so much more sense to just sell and buy a 5 speed than convert the auto to stick which im assuming you are talking about. I say treat it just like you would if it was stick, anyways isnt it for his girl, maybe she doesnt want stick shift.
