So I just finished pulling out my worn out D15B7 and im friggin tired. It was sooo worth it. I'll have pictures tomorrow of all the work, or at least some of it. Now I want to paint my engine compartment, but I'm not sure what paint to use. Does it need to be heat-proof? I'm going to paint it all black, but flat black. I havent decided on a car color, but im sure i dont want a red engine housing. Anyway, just thought id let everyone know.

Yes, it should be heat proof - but doesn't have to be (most aren't). Go to a Home Hardware or something, tell them you want Engine Paint. It should be able to withstand 300f I think? Don't go cheap on the paint product either, you'll regret it when things start flaking.

Personally, I think you should take it to a paint shop to get painted. But that would cost a lot? If you think you can do a quality job, then paint the bay yourself.

If he pulled it for the reason of painting his engine bay a different color... then it's a waste of time.

Definitely use high heat paint. It's your safest bet.

Just so everyone Knows, I pulled the engine cuz it was seized and my fiancee loves the car. I prefer my 02, but its a cute car. The engine is a D15B7/8 out of a LX *1994 so about 100hp* and its a direct replacement. I'm keeping the alternator and starter because their brand new. I should also mention that im a computer technician by trade, not a mechanice, so i think im doin pretty damn good. The engine bay i painted black, with 500 degree paint *its all they had*. it looks sharp, and i REALLY like it. Im going to do a cold air intake too. Not the short on though, the dont work well ive found. ANYWAY enough hub-bub
