Ok people of CC, I need your help.

I think, well.....I know i'm going to TURBO my em1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
I have the money now (went to the casino and WON, yyyeeeaaaa) and I would like to put a turbo in my car.
I would like to gather some info before jumping into buying any turbo.
I would like to be in the 250-300hp range with my b16 engine. I have some gsr cams, aem camgears, aebs intake manifold and itr throttle waiting in the garage to be installed also.

Ok, I can spend under $3000 for the turbo and tunning included.......I hope that with the money that I have is enough. If not, I'll put some out of my pocket,(not trying to) but oh well.
So, What do I need? I have heard people saying "homade turbo" what is that? do you know anybody selling a turbo kit for a good price? can anyone give me an ebay link of a good turbo? also, what's a reasonable price for a shop to install your turbo? or is it too hard to do it yourself, minus the tunning? are the cams and camgears that I have are good for my setup(gsr and aem) or should I upgrade?

Also, the car will be driven everyday, to school, work, etc.

Any help will be very good.

Thank you

PS I found some turbo kits check it out and PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

the afi kit is a great kit. jesse makes great quality stuff. just make sure the ebay seller is legit.

the other ebay chinese kit is garbage i garantee you it will be more pain than its worth.

if you want to make a good kit using quality components you are gonna spend more than the 3k you have alloted. the typical kit we build with a 50 trim on the stock b16's cost around 3k. this is all top quality stuff, garrett, and tial.

in addition to that you will need, fuel pump, injectors, conversion harness, obd1 ecu and an engine management for that, hondata, or neptune are good. and then of course you need to get it tuned.

if you buy used parts and cut a few corners here and there you and you can find some good deals you might be able to get inside your budget. just make sure you dont skimp on the important stuff.

Greddy kit...
not for $3K with a tune... the kit alone will cost nearly $3K with an I/C kit... for less than $3K I think you need to assemble your own "kit". Basically buying all the parts you need for the install from a bunch of seperate dealers and suppliers.

i'd say get a greddy kit....new headgasket...arp head studs....a nice FMIC....go really good with the Engine Management....and get a even better tune...you'll hit 250hp like it was cake

BTW 3800 at the most....

Ok, i think I'm just going to be patient and buy parts here and there and try not to rush into buying a turbo kit that will be good just for awhile. I talk to this guy that runs a shop and basicaly he's telling me the same thing as you guys. To build my own turbo kit. Another thing, he's charging me $600 to install the turbo on my car if I bring everything. Is that a good price? also, please someone answer this, should I use the gsr cams when I purchase the turbo? or should I upgrade?

Thank you

u can use your stock cams they will work fine for your goals, the gsr's might pick up a little bit of power. i would suggest keeping it stock.

600 sounds like a fair price to install a turbo kit.

sorry for the plug but, with the release of our new website www.synapseturbo.com we have a special right now 525 shipped on our ramhorn manifolds pm me for details.

make sure you look around for the best tuner in your area. tuning is the most important part of a good running turbocharged honda.

600 is cheap for install, thats about half what it costs around here at shops that do them everyday.

So, I bought the turbo!!!!!

00 Si with a b16
Stock internals
Aebs intake manifold
Skunk2 throttle body
Aem fuel rail
Aem camgears (should I put them on or not)
GSR camshafts (same)
Skunk2 short shifter

I have:
Greddy 18g turbo (internal wastegate)
Greddy cast manifold
Downpipe
Oil lines
Walbro fuel pump
Fuel pressure regulator
Boost gauge
Air/fuel gauge
Vacuum gauge

I need for turbo:
Greddy bov
Intercooler
Intercooler piping(clamps, connectors, etc)
Missing link
12.1 fmu
E-manage
Injectors (which ones?)

Also for the car:
New clutch & flywheel, (not sure if stage1 or stage 2) (exedy or act)
Triple pillar gauge holder

So the guy that I talk to at the shop said that, this is all I need.....anything missing?
My questions for you cc members are:
1. Clutch? which?
2. Injectors? which?

Like I said I would like to hit 250hp, maybe............Thanks

for your horsepower goal an exedy or act stage 1 or 2 will be good for your setup... act 2100 etc... also for injectors most people will say and i have done this many time but use DSM 450cc injectors out of a stock 1g DSM they are called blue tops... only thing is you have to put in low 10 ohm resistors into your injector wires here is a how to thread here on CC that someone wrote...

http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=84006

and also if your interested i have 2 sets of these injectors in my garage along with the resisto5rs your going to need if your interested i can get you some pics of both... ill let them go for like 70 bucks shipped for both or if ya got anything to trade... pm me if so... good luck bro...

the guy at the shop told you to use upgraded injectors with an FMU? <---------def not right

Don't bother getting the missing link, or the fmu, or the emanage. Do it right, get an obd1 ecu chipped for an ems you can get tuned professionally near you. You will need an obd1 conversion harness for the ecu.

do you have the 3 bolt allen head cam gears? if so i wouldnt put them in. also what brand fuel pressure regulator is it?

is the air fuel guage you have a wideband? if not it doesnt do much but flash some lights here and there.

we use competition clutches in all our builds they hold up great, and you will definately be happy with them.

I agree with mike@synapse. please do not use fmu and emanage. you would be taking a BIG risk with you motor. try and fine a tuner. and get a obd1 ecu like mike@synapse said. and tell the tuner to make a basemap for you so you can drive your si from the installer to the tuner. that would be the safe thing to do.
