i need advice

i have a 1997 civic automatic my car will not start now it cranks and cranks it will take up to 20 min or more to get it to start but when it does if i drive it i cannot push the gas verry hard if i do it will just die but if i let off of it quick it will catch itself and do fine as long as i barley push the gas. i was told it is the ecm im just lookin for advice on what it is and how to fix it
